Jacob Fleece and
You'll love to spin with Jacob wool.
Jacob wool is soft, lustrous, and
springy - perfect for sweaters, shawls, socks, many knitted and woven
Our flock of registered Jacob sheep, provides hand-spinning quality
wool, and purebred breeding stock. With plenty of pasture on our Iowa
farm, we keep our Jacobs clean and healthy. Jacobs are a spotted
sheep, and their fleeces provide a wide variation in colors when spun.
According to registration standards, a sheep may be from 15% black to
85% black. Breeders prefer about 40% black or thereabouts. The sun
sometimes bleaches some of the black to a deep brown at the tips, so
there is an attractive range of possible color combinations. Please
let us know if you prefer more white or more black than the standard
mix and we'll do our best to accommodate your order.
We carefully skirt the fleeces after shearing so that your purchase
will be ready for hand-spinning. If for any reason you are not
satisfied with a purchased fleece, we will refund your money if the
fleece is returned to us within 30 days.
